Azkals give back

AS A way of showing empathy to the victims of natural calamities, the Philippine National Football Team will conduct relief work in areas in Leyte affected by the heavy rains for two weeks.
They will be going to Leyte on April 1.
The relief operation will be led by team manager Dan Palami, who is from Tacloban, Leyte. According to him, before the team left for Myanmar, Leyte was hit by heavy rains.
The Azkals, who successfully qualified for the AFC Challenge Cup after finishing second in Group A last week in Myanmar, survived a massive earthquake and tsunami while training in Japan and another earthquake in Myanmar.
“We felt blessed to have survived these disasters and happy that we were able to put up a good show in the Challenge Cup,” Palami said.
As a sign of gratitude to the fans, the Azkals coaching staff and players pooled their resources for the relief work scheduled by the end of the week.
The team is set to help 1,500 families in Tacloban, Palo and other areas in Leyte that were affected by the heavy rain.
The Azkals bus will be loaded with grocery items that will be handed out by the team to the victims.
Azkal players James Younghusband, Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta will be present to assist in the relief work.
The team decided not to tie up with any politician as the activity is solely an Azkal-initiated action.
The Azkals will be in Tacloban for only a day as they are set to arrive in Ormoc the following day for a two-day recreational training.
Meanwhile, Palami confirmed that the team will be visiting Cebu, as promised, at the end of May.

Here's what Philippine Star reported about Neil Etheridge.
"Etheridge said when he arrives in May, he’ll take two weeks off on holiday in Boracay and Cebu. He’ll play in the World Cup qualifiers then go back to England on July 4 to start training camp with Fulham."
