Cebu City sweeps football titles

CONGRATULATIONS to Cebu City for winning the high school and elementary titles of the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association.

Miguel Caindec scored twice in the second half to lead the high school team, 2-1, over Cebu Province, while Sabin Veloso, Mario Lorenzo Ceniza, Moiselle Alforque and Ryan James Huosen had a goal each in the elementary team's easy 5-0 win over Mandaue City in the finals.

Both teams will represent Cviraa in the Palarong Pambansa in May next year.

UFL - UFC sets 2-day tryout in San Carlos
MANILA-based Union Football Club (UFC) headed by its general manager Charlie O. Cojuangco has set a two-day try-out on December 4 & 5 in San Carlos City.


The activity is in line with the upcoming United Football League in Manila next year, which the club intends to participate in.

UFC's goal is to give opportunities to potential players in the Visayas area to play in a semi-professional football competitions in Manila and avail some benefits provided by the club.


At present, UFC advances to the quarterfinals tomorrow with an undefeated record of 3-0, keeping on top of Bracket A in the ongoing United Football Clubs Association (UFCA) Cup.

The team headed by its Uruguayan-Spanish coach Maor Rozen is composed of players Janrick Soriano (Talisay City), Lemuel Unabia (San Carlos City), Kent Guevarra & Louie Magallanes (Bago City), Jason Cutamora (Dumaguete), Neckson & Nicolas Leonora & Mark Sorongon (Sta. Barbara) and some players from Manila.

THE only positive thing that we can take in that loss against Timor Leste was that the U23 squad looked good in blue. And Ebong, too. The Blue-Haired fanatic whose voice we all heard on TV was fantastic. The team? The result? Mother Nature plays spoilsport

The heavy rains spoiled the debut of defending champions Don Bosco College yesterday, cutting short the match between DBC A(?) and Bright. Hopefully, it will be a sunny Sunday. P.S. It will be interesting to note, how DBC divided its teams for the U12.

A Pinoy played for Real Madrid? (updated)

HERE'S an interesting photo submitted by Asian Football Confederation women's committee member Cristina Ramos. Its taken at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and shows a gallery of the great players who played for Real Madrid. And guess where one of them is from? Jaron Genota said the only information he has managed to gather is that the player's name is Teus. I hope to get more information on this guy in the next few months. Ms. Ramos, who was also in the organizing committee of the Fifa U17 and U20 women's world cup, said the picture was part of Real Madrid's exhibit on the universality of their players. From Ms. Ramos, "Mike, the photo of the Filipino player was part of the display entitled "The Universality of our Players" in the Real Madrid museum in Bernabeu. It's funny that they acknowledged him but did not name him. Only those from countries which participated in the World Cup were named."
