Fair Play: Go get 'em, Tiger
HAVE you seen the new Tiger Woods commercial?
He doesn't say anything in it. Nor does he even hit a ball.
All he does is stand there, trying to look contrite.
Quite harmless, right?
Well, it depends on which side of the fence you sit on.
You see, somebody else did all the talking for Tiger, who has faced more cameras and microphones these days than we've had a campaign poster.
Tiger's dad did all the talking.
Some say that it was inappropriate since Tiger's dad never had a say in it--he's dead remember?
Some say that nobody else but Tiger knows what his dad would've thought of it.
Tiger's dad was spared of the troubles his son caused by his green-reading skills (hey, I like this phrase) that hit the news last year.
But in the ad, well, he sounded like he was.
Like I said, it was just a short one.
But here's what Tiger's dad said
"I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was, I want to find out what your feelings were. And did you learn anything? "
It was Tiger's first ad since stories about the 19th holes first surfaced, and as expected it's causing quite a ruckus.
But I think Nike could have showed Tiger just hitting a golf ball and some peope would have still
found something offensive in that.
But now that Tiger's back and he's had his series of firsts--first interviews, press con
practice and tournament and what have you--there's only one thing I look forward to
reading or hearing about this time.
Tiger's first major of the year and 15th overall. I know some people might find it ironic that he’d win the US Masters—the winner, after all, gets a green jacket
Despite not having played since crashing his SUV last year, it’s not farfetched for Tiger to win his fifth green jacket.
He is, after all, Tiger Woods.
WORLD CUP DREAM. I'm still in contention to win Sony Ericsson's contest for bloggers in the World Cup. My blog entry, "CES Theater of Dreams" is currently fourth in the top 20.
The top two, who have 1,345 and 1,102 and are both Indonesians, are busy chasing each other and I'm content to stay in the sideline.
I had 787 votes as of yesterday morning, which is about 700 more when I first mentioned this in my column.
I should have been at 900 plus already since I lost some 125 votes in the third day.
Voting is until April 15 and you can vote once once, each day.
So, whether you're for yellow, green, or orange or simply don't have one for May 10, why not help a kababayan get that dream?

Don't click the thumb's down sign, that’s how I lost 125 votes.
