Paref-Springdale, DBC-A, ANS notch easy wins

FAVORITES Paref-Springdale, Don Bosco College-A (DBC-A) and Abellana National School (ANS) hacked out easy wins yesterday to pace the Aboitiz Boys 15 Cup at the San Roque Parish football field.

ANS pounced Center for International Education, 4-0; Springdale whipped host San Roque FC, 5-0; and DBC gave FC Inter Cebu some neat lesson in an 8-0 bashing.

With the win, Springdale solidified its hold of the top spot in Group A with a perfect 15 points from five games, while San Roque stays at second with 10 points.

On the other hand, DBC snatched the lead in Group B over ANS on superior goal difference. Both teams have 12 points in four wins, but DBC scored five goals more than ANS.

Yesterday, Springdale banked on the golden boot of Evanjames Mendoza to trounce the host. Mendoza struck late in the final minuet of the first half before Miguel ARriola made it 2-0 in the 55th.

Mendoza capped his hat trick barely a minute apart in the 68th and 69th to up his goal tally to eight. SRFC's Carlo Borja pace the list with 11 goals.

Bernard Buot also scored a hat trick for DBC in their easy win. Louie Inez opened the scoring in the 18th and Jonathan Caballero struck for two to make it 3-0, before Buot banged another two and Hiel Alpuerto made it a scorching 6-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Rikko de Guzman scored in the 60th and Buot capped his scoring binge in the 70th for their fourth win.

It was a different story for ANS as four different players scored their goals. Jethro delos Santos opened the act in the sixth before getting goals from Ronel Cuizon, Francis Villarico and Jan Michael Canoy.

bai mike, slight correction. Abellana finished first in Group B by points because they earlier defeated DBC-A 1-0.

any update on the DBC-B vs BJS matchup that will determine the other semis slot in Group A ? DBC requested a postponement of the match because it was in conflict with the school's Founder's Day Football Festival (i think it was sanctioned by CebuFA). Springdale gave DBC a big favor when they won 5-0 over San Roque. that meant (IF my figures are correct) that if DBC-B won over BJS by 4 goals then DBC-B will get the last semis slot via a better goals scored. a 3-0 win (or a forfeit by BJS) will also give the semis slot to DBC-B via a better goal difference. however, a draw or a loss will give San Roque the semis slot.
