The Prediction

"What a nice prediction mike...haha.reporter man ka asa ra dapit taman ang La Nina?...elims? bwahahaha"

"ayo ra unta ug napildi lang sa championship ang gi predict wa pod gani naka semis...hahaha"

Hahay, people just read what they want to read, the humor is lost.

Aside from La NiƱa winning the Women's Open, I also predicted it will rain at exactly 1:42 p.m.

Idiots.

na hala again.

insakto ko sa

P6 - Pepito
P8 - Springdale
P12 - DBC
Men's Open - Hiroshi

i made 8 predictions, i got 4 of them right. that means i have a 50-50 chance of becoming the madam auring of cebufootball - bwahahahaha.

other predictions nga pirteng layo-a :

jolibee and mcdonalds were absent. wala sila kabayad og franchise fee.

parents trap rematch didn't materialize. this was the biggest dissapointment.

walay nag-sinumbagay sa 36-above. walay ulo nga ni-init kay wala kalihok og tarong ang mga bukog sa mga tiguwang tungod sa bugnaw sa kagab-ihon, mao nang walay nag-garagara.

walay na-igo og kilat. this was the second biggest dissapointment.

back to being serious.

the festival ended at 1:30 AM on Monday. some commented that the schedule wasn't done properly. when i saw the list of teams, i knew there was no way the event would end before midnight on Sunday.

BUT.

late or not, i left the venue (earlier than i should have wanted) acknowleging that the event was organized well and was well-thought of. i specially liked the way the schedule was made based on the divisions, and not the usual "halo-halo" system wherein all age-groups played simultaneously and some teams had to wait hours before their next matches. i may criticize CebuFA a lot, but as far as this festival is concerned, they did pretty good. i hope this format will be adopted as the standard for future festivals.

the festival succesfully promoted cebufootball. again, the next immediate step would be to actually improve cebufootball. the expense to hold that festival was huge. i hope there is enough funds left for CebuFA to hold full-size tournaments for all the divisions.

i just read john pages' column regarding cebufootball, and i have to say that it lacked a lot of things that he should have mentioned, considering the topic he was writing about. before the present crop of CebuFA directors and even before Mackinnon and Lhullier, football was already striving in cebu. players from Don Bosco, Abellana, City Central, San Roque and the collegiate teams weren't playing julen, takyan, or japanese game on the football fields - they were already playing football. media then didn't give the sport the coverage it deserved unlike now, so i guess a lot of people may think that it is only recently that the sport caught on.

bai mike, this is out of topic, but since we are in the issue of festivals and tournaments, allow me this space. this isn't about the Aboitiz Festival nor about CebuFA but this is about another football event and it's organizers.

phart, kung gusto mo nga maneho-on ang pag-award sa MVP, planoha ninyo og tarong nga dili mag-lahi-lahi ang criteria for choosing the MVP. klaro hinuon nga wala nagkadimao ang inyong sabot-sabot kay lain ang rason sa tournament organizer unya lahi pud ang sa overall coordinator.

na pugos na lang ang sponsor og pang-hugas sa ilang kamot og gi himo na lang og official reason nga "it was the decision of the local organizing commitees" kay over-turning the MOA will be embarrasing to them and to the players involved. pero kahibalo ang kasagaran nga gi-badlong mo sa organizer. gi-sabonan mo og gi sulti-an mo nga basin next year dili na kamo ang tournament organizer. mawagtangan na hinoon mo og pangawarta.

karon, kay gi badlong man mo apan gi-sultian nga "your decision will have to stand in order to avoid further embarrasment", isog kaayo mo manawag sa mga complainants og mo sulti nga nobody can question your authority. instead of lashing out like a trapped rat, you should have just stayed silent and acted like a gentleman and lick the wounds given by the sponsor. doing so would have made you a better person.

that's that, and Mike, thanks for the space. i'm not saying what the tournament i'm talking about and the people i am refering to. all i can say is that i want to drink a cup of piping hot OVALTINE which seems to be more credible - este - nutricious diay. i will not drink any other chocolate milk drink that associate themselves with people who take advantage of young players.

and one other thing - don't think for an instant that the decision to let the MVP choice stay as it is as a show of support to you by the sponsors. that was a way of preventing further embarrasment and bismirching the name of the sponsor.

don't call yourselves sportsmen when what you did violated the essence of that word. sportsmen don't take advantage of young players.

by the way, basin makalimot mo - the prize is php5,000.00 for each awardee - not php500.00.

kinsay gusto og OVALTINE diri. nag-timpla ko og daghan.

well....their decision is final kung man gani nakasabot sila ila gipangbuhat ( pasaylu-a na lang sila ) Maybe next time these sponsors look for more honest, reliable and competent technical expert or referees or ambot unsa ila dapat pangitaon..... kanang di tikasan!!!!!!

dont be surprised bout that Milo MOA bruhaha. few years ago, it happened also, MOA went to a player from the runner-up team who happens to be the team the TM (the same TM mind you) is coaching. there were even talks where that P5000.00 cash prize went to... the player got the plaque and the money went to...

karun palagi ku kahibaw ana?

yes sir. this happened before 2003. it was even exposed in one of the newspaper columns written by a foreigner (who is now back in his native land). sad to say, Milo local organizer still appointed the TM until now. seems to be a good partnership between the two of them...
