CebuFA nixes AFC seminar for basic course

Instead of an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) License C coaching seminar, the Cebu Football Association (CebuFA) has re-applied to the Philippine Football Federation for a basic coaching course, which is expected to ‘finally” materialize anytime this month.

Last month, CebuFA president Jonathan Maximo, has requested the PFF to hold an AFC-C licensing. PFF, however, suggested to hold the basic course first, forcing them to re-sechedule the seminar this month.

This was after the PFF observed that less than fifty percent of those joining the AFC C-licensing courses held in other provinces passed.

“They suggested that we follow every level. That we first start with the basic and those who are qualified, could advance to the national coaching course, before the AFC C,” Maximo said. “If we directly to the AFC licensing, there is a tendency that a lot may fail and our efforts would only be wasted.”

CebuFA is now waiting for the confirmation from the PFF on who it could send to conduct the three-day seminar.

Maximo said they plan to hold each level two months apart so the three trainings could be completed by the end of the year.
He also requested the PFF if the Cebuano AFC C licensed coaches could conduct the trainings, but the PFF declined, since it will be sending its own team of coaches.

The AFC C-licensed coaches in Cebu are Mario Ceniza of Springdale, Glen Ramos of Don Bosco Technological Center, Dexter Arrojado and Joshua Fegidero of the University of San Carlos.

i agree with this decision. have a basic courses before the licensing-course is the proper procedure. i just hope that the seminars push thru.

i hope they can present the schedule and venue as soon as possible. it would be difficult if notification is done only days before it starts. many of those i have spoken to who are interested or i encouraged to join the seminar has day jobs. if the seminar pushes thru, they may have to file for official leaves which may take time to be approved. i understand that it cannot be done after work so some sort of sacrifice on their jobs on the part of the applicants must be made.
