Cebu beats Sultan Kudarat, 32-0

If this was a boxing match, this would be equivalent to Iron Mike (in his prime) fighting the sad, money-hungery Iron Mike (in his last fight)

Cebu is in the semifinals.

Can they beat Dumaguete?

This tournament need a special rule that they can just throw away a towel and end it. I hope this motivate SK to be a better team in the future.

Cebu needed 21 goals or more to be able to go through, and if there was a rule such like the one you want, then Sultan Kudarat could have ended it at for example 15 goals, and that wouldnt be fair to the other team.

Wow...

Good job gals... goodluck and go get that trophy!

Just wondering about SK... I think their coach should be blamed for what had happened. Even if the players are new to the game the coach should have come up with a game plan to minimize the damage... Its not that hard to clog up the penalty area with 10 players they could have played 6-3-1, 7-2-1, 8-1-1, 10-0-0 or whatever it takes to slow down the opposing team.

I feel sorry for you gals but hey its not the end of the world just keep on practising And Everythings' Gonna Be Alright......... Bob Marley

"2006 CebuFA-Queen City Utd Womens Open Team just made history: most number of goals scored in a PFF National Tournament. Can this record be broken?

this is not to downgrade the Cebu team's performance, but any well-meaning football coach could have found a way to reduce the number of goals scored by Cebu by crowding the passing and shooting lanes as riscoh had said.

Hope the record "Most goal scored" wont be broken coz if that happens. That would only mean that Philippine Womens Football hasnt improve and had taken a step backwards.

in international boy's baseball, there actually is a rule stating that in the event a team leads by over 10 runs after the second to the last inning (there are only 7 innings in boys baseball instead of the 9 in mens), the game can be cut short in favor of the leading team. i forgot what the technical term of the rule is but it's basically "mercy killing in baseball."

a part of me is glad that the cebu team has given themselves a chance to win the title. i'm sure the players weren't thinking of embarrassing the SK team. but a big part of me is disappointed that such a team was allowed to play in the tournament. like the men's open championship, there should have been a regional eliminations to prevent such a massacre.

for the cebu team, i hope that record won't get into their heads. they got themselves on the shooters chair in that turkey shoot - the real games would be against the other semi-finalists. this time, the opponents won't be willing victims. that record (if it is a record) is nothing to be proud of (i'm sorry for that opinion). winning 32-0 against a team that obviously isn't competitive is not a real achievement. winning against NORFA, Davao or NCR is.

just read the SunStar report on the semis, and one factor Dexter pointed out that went against the CebuFA team was the fact that the team only had ONE week to prepare. I presume this is so because the Aboitiz Womens Open was held just last month.

which makes me wonder - why did CebuFA schedule the Women's Open so close to the PFF National Finals that made it difficult for the team to properly prepare ?

other reports pointed out that the team was understaffed. does this mean that we lacked players ?

i'm sure the ladies played their hearts out. i'm also sure dexter did everything he could under the conditions he was forced to work with.

but c'mon, ONE week to form the team ?

if only Maximo and CebuFA scheduled things out better, i'm sure the team would have been better prepared.

the teams lacked four players prior to their last game against sultan kudarat
the four, according to dexter, were not able to file a leave on time for the tournament. never got to include that in the report
