HOST Queen City United set up an exciting rematch with Davao City in the 6th Cebu Inter Club Ladies' Open after hurdling separate foes in the semifinal round yesterday at University of San Carlos-Technological Center.

Queen City, which lost to Davao, 5-0, in the National Women's Open last year, outlasted Ladies Football Club-CD0, 2-1, while D' Davao Survivors blanked Mulbachs, 2-0.

"Davao has two players who played for a club in Singapore," veteran referee Randy Estremos said.

Meanwhile, in the men's side, Queen City will face top-ranked Don Bosco College in the first semifinal before Bacolod City tangles with defending champion Hiroshi FC.

Ellen Cuizon scored the first goal for Davao, which routed the DBC ladies, 13-1, in its final elimination round game, while Ester Mae Vilela added another in the 50th.

On the other hand, Queen City's Marlou Solon came up with the winning play yesterday as they outlasted the same team they defeated via shoot-out in the Inter Club last year.

Courney Canque put the host on top in the 25th before a costly error by the QC keeper allowed the visitors to level in the 39th with Carla Alabat's strike before Solon came up with her heroics.

Solon got the ball at the half court line and dribbled past two defenders before chipping the ball past the keeper to a streaking Sigred Pilla for the simple tap-in for the winning goal.

Queen City will next face Davao, which they drew 2-2 in the elimination round, for the Women's title and the P30,000 top prize.

Hiroshi's Arndt Kolmare, the early candidate for the best keeper award in the Men's Open, again came up with a crucial saves yesterday as Hiroshi drew Queen City, 0-0.

Kolmare saved two headers off former Hiroshi player, Josapahat Sacil and Eleazar Toledo to preserve the score, while Frederick Alazas also bungled his shot at goal and Queen City keeper Jesus Singson Jr caught Marion Cubelo's strike.

Queen City will take on DBC in the first semifinal today, minus winger Rene Menchavez, who got another yellow card yesterday.
