Two year ban???

There's nothing official yet, the Cebu Football Association is set to issue an official statement tomorrow (January 18), I just hope that it is more detailed than the previous one.

However, that doesnt stop me from snooping around, after nobody would issue an official statement a few hours ago, I learned from a reliable source that two players will get a two-year ban, while the rest will sit it out for one year.

As for Hiroshi representing Cebu in the regional eliminatins, my source didnt say anything but hinted that Hiroshi might not see action at all.

Ouch.

Hope lessons are learned from this one, tune in for more.

Punishing the club (in this case hiroshi) by not letting them represent cebu in the regionals would be outright detrimental to cebu football. remember football clubs are more than the sum of individuals. those who erred were individuals (the coach, players, other staff, fans), so punish them instead.

in incidents such as the thirsty cup fiasco (which should have been well-secured in the first place), there are many ways of punishing a club without depriving the club of its hard-earned right to compete at the top level:

1. ban on erring players. this will still serve its purpose of teaching the club a lesson. the two or one-year ban on players is fair. surely other hiroshi players would think twice about engaging in rumbles, unless they want to get banned as well.

2. points (goal) deduction in future tournaments (this is done in the epl and probably in most leagues)

3. a fine (if it's in the guidelines). surely that would hurt the owner, no matter how deep his pockets are (money is still money)

consider too that the thirsty cup is distinct from the tournament that hiroshi won and propelled them to the regionals. if the CFA deprives hiroshi of their right to represent cebu, this will be tainted with insinuations that politics is behind the decision.

(by the way, i'm not a hiroshi fan. i'm just for FAIR PLAY, even off the pitch.)
