I have a question for you people...Which team was able to beat Hiroshi this year? Remember Hiroshi has an undefeated season.

don bosco college beat hiroshi in a tournament in barotac nuevo (forget the tournament name)during the semifinal stage.the don bosco college team was made up of usjr players, don bosco P.E. instructors and don bosco alumni. officially, the team name was Don Bosco College

Why say that theyre undefeated when they actually lost a game? haha

Btw, i read the achievement list of the Hiroshi team. This year they have played a lot of tournaments, but they didnt win all, so that means that they basically arent UNDEFEATED this year, 2005, doesnt matter where they played, they still lost some games. Theyre undefeated in the ABOITIZ LEAGUE, and thats it. Don Bosco wasnt the only team to beat Hiroshi.

But what do you exactly mean by season? The whole 2005, or just the Aboitiz league?

anyway, congratulations to Hiroshi. The Aboitiz Men's League title reinforces their claim as Cebu's winningest football club for 2005.

as for the age groups, for the school year June 2005-April 2006, here are the different tournament champions (not counting the football festivals)

1.Don Bosco Elementary - Milo Olympics Champion
2.Don Bosco High School - Milo Olympics Champion
3.Don Bosco High School - CESAFI Champion
4.Don Bosco P12 - Aboitiz Cup Champion
5.Abellana National High - City Olympics Champion
6.Don Bosco Elementary - City Olympics Champion
7.PAREF-Springdale P15 - Aboitiz Cup Champion

So, as of December 2005, the tally for age-group competitions is as follows:

Don Bosco Technology Center - 5 tournament titles
Abellana High School - 1 tournament title
PAREF-Springdale - 1 tournament title

the following age group tournaments are still to be started or played:

Red Ribbon Tournament Under14
CVIRAA
P17 Boys Aboitiz Cup
P17 Ladies Aboitiz Cup

At the end of the school year, lets look at this tally and see which football program was the most successful.

Hmmm. Really? Don Bosco won that many? I didn't realize.
It doesn't seem that way in the media.
I'm not blaming the writers. I think CFA media department gives out selective information to the writers. Just my own theory. If there's another rational explanation for this I'm all ears.

Not all high school teams join the cesafi. If you are in to base the results in the city olympics Abellana will win easily in that tournament. When you talk about youth programs in the schools they dont start at U12 but at P6 so its improper to neglect the festivals. And may I know who has the better results in the 2 festivals which include P6, P8, P10, P12, P14, P17 and ladies too?

because some schools doesn't join a particular tournament does not or will not diminish the tournament winner. Sacred Heart and San Jose junior teams did not participate in the Aboitiz Cup but that does not mean Springdale are unworthy champions. Springdale and Abellana were not in the CESAFI and that also doesn't mean that Don Bosco doesn't deserve the crown.

just post the results of the one-day festivals so we can also determine who is best in 7-a-side festivals.again,i'm not a big fan of festivals since i feel that these are promotional tools to promote the sport. i strongly feel that tournament type format (be it 7-a-side or 11-a-side) is still the best way.

to continue,if a particular team was not able to win a tournament in their division or age group, but was consistently runner-up or third place in several tournaments, that also does not mean that they have an unsuccessful program.in my book, if in 3 tournaments there were 3 different champions but had the same runner-up, then that 3rd time runner-up team was the more consistent performer within that age group.

at the end of the year, it is best to compare the different programs thru tournaments won because that way, the schools/teams can gauge and/or assess their programs.

the tally reflects only the elementary or P12, and the High School/Juniors/P17-P15 teams because so far, these are the only age-brackets with multiple tournaments - namely the Milo Olympics, City Olympics, CESAFI, CVIRAA and the Aboitiz Cup. The P6, P7, P8, P10 and U14 has only the festivals and CFA sanctioned tournaments. We have had several festivals that featured the younger age-groups - the CIS Invitational, San Roque, the Aboitiz and the upcoming Thirsty Cup but no tournaments as of yet.

I'm hoping that by next year, P10 and U14 will have their own CFA-organized tournament, while the younger age-groups (P6,P7,P8) will have at least 4-5 festival type competitons every 2 months.

Hiroshi won all their games in Cebu this year...but they also lost twice?

How?

In the shangrila futsal finals...hiroshi b defeated hiroshi a for the title...same thing for the CIS friendship cup.

Technically, they are still undefeated...and they also lost twice...

Happy new year everybody

football coverage of milo was put on back burner for the other events of the milo olympics...

I asked the organizers of Cesafi for sked of the high school games and venue...never got any info.

City Olympics started the weekend before the sea games and ended in the middle of the sea games.

mike, the finals of the shangrila futsal tournament was hiroshi vs. don bosco college.

mike, it was hiroshi vs. don bosco college for the shangrila futsal (street football) finals which hiroshi won. it was not hiroshi vs hiroshi. it think that only happened during the CIS Cup.

Mike,
I say that youre wrong. They have played several tournaments in 2005, and they didnt win all. That way, theyre not undefeated. Theyre maybe undefeated in Cebu, but out of Cebu theyre not undefeated. And it really doesnt matter where they did play, they still lost more than two games.

i meant they were undefeated in Cebu..Yeah..i seem to remember that it was DBC vs hiroshi...i'll check my files. Outside Cebu, they lost a lot

Lets see how they do it in the regionals. As one of the players said, he thinks Hiroshi is one of the top 10 teams in Philippines. If they are, then there should be no problem qualifying for the nationals. ;)
