Pascual saves Springdale

Paolo Pascual saved Springdale from defeat as he came up with two saves for their exciting 5-4 penalty shootout win over Don Bosco College in the 15th Cebu City Olympics Sunday at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center field.

"We were down by a goal after the first four kickers, before Paolo stopped the fifth kicker and the first in the sudden-death shootout," Springdale coach Mario Ceniza said.

According to Ceniza, the two teams were evenly matched in regulation and none of them managed to get any upperhand. However, DBC, got a slight advantage after Patrick Garcia was sent off for earning two yellows.

Garcia won't be able to play against defending champion Abellana National School this Saturday.

Also last Sunday, Abellana National School defeated USJ-R, 3-1, after trailing by a goal in the first half.

"We were on the attack the whole time when they got one on a counter," ANS coach Francis Ramirez said.

In the other games, the University of San Carlos defeated Camp Lapu-Lapu National High School, 4-0, while SHS-J blanked Cebu City Science High School, 2-0.

In the elementary division, powerhouse DBC blanked Springdale, 3-0 to move a win closer to the title.

"DBC is really very good," said Ceniza after his team's loss.

In the other game, USC got past SHS-J, 2-1.
