The last stand of RP football

THE final seed to save Philippine football has been planted, and the fruits will be reaped in 10 years.

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is set to put up 15 Centers For Excellence all over the country, including one in Cebu, to develop players for the national team.

No more Fil-foreigners and no more half-baked RP teams for international tournaments.

“This is geared for the 1992 age bracket, and it was national Men’s team coach Aries Caslib who really pushed for this to address the problem of the national team,” said Springdale coach Mario Ceniza, who joined the June 11-22 seminar in Bago City with 14 other coaches.

The project aims to win the country’s first gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games by 2015.

Caslib, left with no skilled players develop locally, has scoured the globe for Fil-foreigners to boost the team.

“He doesn’t want to have Fil-foreigners anymore in order to develop local players,” Ceniza said.

Ceniza said that each CFE will have a pool of 22-25 players, whose training will be closely monitored by its local staff along with the PFF.

“We have a single syllabus that all CFEs must follow. It’s like the way they do it in Europe; we will monitor each player’s height, weight and we will have weekly and monthly progress reports,” Ceniza said.

Ceniza will conduct tryouts for the Cebu CFE pool in the next few weeks, and he is inviting all kids born in 1992 to join.

“This year, there will be camps in the Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao, and 40 from each will be sent to the national CFE,” he said,

“This is the last frontier of Philippine football and if this won’t work, I don’t know where Philippine football is going,” Ceniza said.

Over 40 coaches did participate in Bagio Seminar of PFF ( the majority came from NORFA )..
only one coach ( = MARIO ) came from CEBU!

IN MOMENT I am disappointed that Aris Caslib hold not his words to me to make a special coach-seminar also in Cebu!

We need in Cebu good educated coaches for our clubs!

The clubs will have the task in future to strenghten the FOTTBALL ASSOCIATIONS with their membership!

If the clubs-system is strong with good educated coaches then I am sure PHILIPPINE FOOTBALL has a good chance to climb up in international competitions..
and jobs can be created around football!
