Ronald Loayon scores seven for Metropolitan
OUTGUNNED and outskilled in all flanks, FC Inter Lapu-lapu got on a wrong end of a 15-0 Metropolitan FC rout in their Aboitiz Men's League Division B match-up at the San Roque Parish football grounds yesterday.
In the first game, Dexter Arrojado scored twice to tow Queen City United to a tough 2-0 win over Cebu State college of Science and Technology (CSCST).
Former University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) striker Ronald Loayon connected for seven goals against FC Inter Lapu-lapu, one of four new teams in the men's league.
"They (Lapu-lapu) were definitely outmatched, wa'y kaya jud," referee Kurt Acre said.
Loayon had just arrived from Manila and wasn't able to play for the USJ-R Alumni FC in Division B, and immediately got invited to play for Metropolitan FC.
"He was the goal scorer for USJ-R in the Cesafi before he joined the Philippine Air Force," Acre said.
Five minutes in, Loayon struck, and had five to his name after the first half as Metropolitan put up a 7-0 lead. Goerge Doromel scored in the 10th and 4th.
Loayon again scored first minute into the second half and then capped it with a goal in the 49th.
"He was replaced with still 25 minutes left, I guess because of pity, since of the Lapu-lapu players were new to the game," Acre said.
Meanwhile in the first game, QCU were forced to bench some of its star players for various infractions, making them undermanned against a surprisingly tough CSCST squad.
"They were also good, since most of them were young," coach Mario Ceniza said.
Ceniza said that some of their players were punished for not attending Friday's practice and for arriving late at the venue.
"This is the thrust of club president Ricky Dakay, since they are already receiving allowances, we will professionalize the way we run the club," Ceniza said.
Arrojado, a former University of San Carlos player and coach, struck in the 51st and 79th minute for the tough win.
